Quake Manager v1.0
Introduction
------------
As you can tell, I didn't spend a lot of time writing a
real help file! This program is pretty simple to use
and therefore does not need too much explaining.
The reason why I wrote this program was because of the
many "good ideas" for Quake utils out there but poorly
built interfaces.
There are many hints in this program by simply placing
your mouse over the object. Try it!
Files Included:
QM.EXE (executable)
IP.DAT (contains IP addresses...add more)
QMHELP.TXT (you're reading it)
Files Created:
C:\quakedir\id1\QM.CFG
C:\DIR.DAT
Install
-------
I didn't write an install either! Simply unzip the file
QM.ZIP in your ROOT directory "C:\" or you can make any
directory like "C:\QM" but make sure your IP.DAT and
QMHelp.TXT file is in your ROOT directory "C:\"
Starting Config
---------------
Make sure your Quake directory is correct before you
start. This screen allows you to select the options
listed before running Quake. For custom maps, make
sure you put the .BSP files in the "\quakedir\id1\maps"
directory!
Configuring CFG File
--------------------
You can use the default Config.CFG file or create your
own QM.CFG file. These files must be in your "id1" dir
in your quakedir!
Quake IP Servers
----------------
You can find out much information about a server by
right clicking the IP address and choosing one of the 3
popup menu options. If you just want to know the basic
status of all the servers then click on the QUERY button.
"No response or too slow" means that the Quake server
took more than 3 seconds to respond and you don't want
to play on a server that has a ping rate of over 3
seconds.
Misc
----
This is freeware for you to copy and have fun with. If
it was up to me, all programs like this would be free!
If you want to donate, I will probably faint! But email
me and I'll give you my address. I will even send you
the source code (DELPHI) for your donation.
How To Contact Me
-----------------
My name is Mark Barry and I did most of the programming
but had some help with the "tricky" socket stuff from a
friend of mine at work (Mike Nygard). If you need any
help, try contacting me at "teacher@bsc.net"
If you see "Teacher" on a Quake server, say "hi" to me
and let me know if you enjoy the program!
